A Blessing For the Wife

DAY 5:  “A BLESSING FOR the wife”.

{5 DAYS OF BLESSINGS  FOR YOUR FAMILY SERIES}

{Days 1 thru 5}

Day 5:  Blessing For The Wife

Welcome back to my 5 Days of Blessings For The Family Series!  Today is Day 5 and it’s all about the Wife.  Yes, it’s our turn ladies!  We are the one who God entrusts to build our home.  We are building our lovely home upon the rock of Christ.  That includes our marriage.   First, we are a wife to our husband, then a mother to our children.  Sometimes we can get that all out of order.   With so much going on, our conflicting schedules or just kids running around the house . . . you get the picture.

By the way, I found this sweet pic from my favorite musical, “Fiddler on the Roof“.  During this scene, the family has just watched their Mother light the candles to usher in the Sabbath or Shabbat.  Soon, the song of the Blessing will be sung by both the wife and husband.  I love how the children look upon their Mother with love, honor and admiration.  They are looking to her for direction, guidance and wisdom.  They are ready to receive their blessing, yet they in turn bless her, their Mom.

Now, notice how the husband looks upon his wife in this scene.  He stands across from her.  You can see the honor he has for her in his eyes.  Most of all, you can see his love for her.  Clearly, the week has gone by and maybe he hadn’t noticed her.  Until this moment, he is reminded of how beautiful she is to him.  He sees her for the lovely wife he has come to deeply love.  Through good times and bad.  God has blessed him with a virtuous wife.

Isn’t it wonderful when our husbands love us deeply?  It may seem that a husband can go through their busy days and weeks only to forget to look deeply into the eyes of their wife.  Marriage is hard work.  It takes sacrifice, perseverance, forgiveness and love.  It is a blessing for the husband to pray and bless his wife. Most importantly it is a gift of love. The Bible is clear:

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.  In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.  Ephesians 5:25-28

So today the blessing for the wife is adapted from Proverbs 31:10-31 and also from John D Garrr’s book entitled, The Book of Blessings, Ancient Biblical Blessings for Every Occasion.  You can also find these and many other blessings in this book entitled, Bless You by John D. Garr.
When your husband blesses you with these words, it will affirm his love for you and his love for Jesus.  I definitely feel my husband’s love after these beautiful words are affirmed over me.  Be blessed Daughter of the King!

Blessing

What a rare find is a capable wife!
Your worth is far beyond that of rubies.
As your husband I can put my confidence in you and I lack no good thing.
You are good to me, never bad, all the days of your life. . .
You give generously to the poor; your hands are stretched out to the needy. . .
As your husband I am prominent in the gates, as I sit among the elders of the land. . .
You look to the future cheerfully.
Your mouth is full of wisdom, your tongue with kindly teaching.
You oversee the activities of your household and never eat the bread of idleness.
Your children declare you happy.
As your husband I praise you, “Many women have done well, but you surpass them all.
It is for your fear of the Lord that a woman is to be praised.
I Extol you for the fruit of your hand, and let your works praise you in the gates.
In finding you, my wife, I have found happiness, and I have won the favor of the Lord.

A Blessing For Your Husband

DAY 4:  “A BLESSING FOR YOUR Husband”.

{5 DAY OF BLESSINGS  FOR YOUR FAMILY SERIES}

{Days 1 thru 5}

Welcome back to the 4th day of the Blessings For Your Family Series.

I’m so excited about today’s Blessing For Your Husband post.

Praying and blessing your husband is very important.

First, it’s important for you.  Yes, you!  Sometimes as wives, we can forget that we are Wives first before being Mommy.  We get too busy with this every day life and forget the very one who God blessed us with for life!  We are to be a help-mate to our husband.  When you bless your husband, you let him know how important he really is to you.  Okay, wives now that we remember who we are, let’s go on.

In today’s world, our husbands face so much pressure.  Wouldn’t you agree?  Some of them are supporting the entire family, self-employed, traveling or in ministry.   Some maybe going through times of being jobless, transition or not on the right road.  Wives, they need our love and support, today.  Now.

Second, as we take time to bless our husband it teaches our children how to honor their father.  Our husband realizes how much we honor them when we all bless him together.  It’s a beautiful picture for the children to see their Mom honor their Dad.  As a family, I like to take time to bless my husband once a week during shabbat (the sabbath) and at times as I feel led.   I’m not going to say that it happens every week, but I’m still working on that too.

We can pray for our husbands and most of all, the Bible says to honor and submit to our husbands.  Well, maybe you say, “You don’t know my husband!”.  I’m here to tell you that no matter where your husband falls short, if you bless them and surrender them to the Lord, God can intervene.

That is why I felt so encouraged to share this Blessings for the Family series.

It can encourage us in our daily lives to take time and realize how important it is to bless each other.
Take time as you feel led to use this blessing and to pray over your husband.  Speak the words from your heart and the Lord will do the rest!

Here is an excerpt taken from Psalm 122:1-10 and also from John D Garrr’s book entitled, The Book of Blessings, Ancient Biblical Blessings for Every Occasion.  You can also find these and many other blessings in this book entitled, Bless You by John D. Garr.

Blessing

Praise the Lord!  Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who delights greatly in his commandments.
His descendants will be mighty on earth;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man graciously and lends;

he will guide his affairs with discretion.

Surely he will never be shaken;

the righteousness will be in everlasting remembrance.

He will not be afraid of evil tidings;

his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor;

his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor.

Blessing For Your Son

Day 3:  “A Blessing For Your Son/s”.  {5 Day of Blessings  For Your Family Series}

{Days 1 thru 5}

Why Bless Your Son?

Raising our boys to be a man after God’s own heart can be very challenging
these days.  With all the lies that this world tells us about boys and men such as, “boys will be boys”.  We use these phrases as excuses only to enable our boys and men to fall short.
Which sadly only sets them up for failure.

Sometimes as parents we can get off focus and feel that it is important to teach our son/s about other things such as sports, academics or talents.  Why is the importance of teaching our children about God put on the back burner?
I know, I get caught up in that trap too with our daughter.  It’s only natural, yet thank the Lord, He is here to remind us through this post how important it is to teach our children about Him.

Society does not focus on raising men of character, integrity and righteousness.
That is why it is so critical to pray for your son/s and impart upon them a special blessing.
As parents, we have the God-given authority to see that our son/s grow up to be men who love the Lord with all of their heart, mind, soul and strength.  So rise up Men of God!

Here is a blessing excerpt taken from John D Garrr’s book entitled, The Book of Blessings, Ancient Biblical Blessings for Every Occasion.  You can also find these and many other blessings in this book entitled, Bless You by John D. Garr.

Blessing

The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord cause his face to shine upon you and
be gracious unto you.
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

May your mouth speak with wisdom.
May your heart meditate with reverence.
May your hands do the work that God has given you.
May your feet hasten to follow the path that God has laid out for your life.
May the Lord’s full will for you be accomplished.
May the Spirit of the Lord, the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and power, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord be upon you.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be upon
you both now and forever,
Amen

Blessing For Your Daughter

Day 2:  “A Blessing For Your Daughter/s”.  {5 Day of Blessings  For Your Family Series}

{Days 1 thru 5}

Since my daughter was a baby, we have been applying this blessing over her.  It stems from the ancient hebrew biblical blessing.  We were inspired by the book by John Garr entitled The Book of Blessings:  Ancient Biblical Blessings For Every Occasion.  Here is an excerpt
from the book.  You can also find these and many other blessings in this book entitled, Bless You by John D. Garr.

Since we only have one daughter, I am posting the daughter blessing first, but will post the blessing for a son next in my 5 Days of Blessings for the Family Series!
We pray this blessing over our daughter once a week during our sabbath time, but you may do this as you feel led.

Blessing

May the Lord make you like Sarah and Rebecca, like Rachel and Leah who together built the house of Israel.  May your entire life be fruitful.
May you be favored by your husband and be blessed with children.
May the Lord’s full will for you be accomplished in your life.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious onto you.
The Lord turn his face to shine upon you and give you peace (shalom).

Blessed are you of the Lord, my daughter, for you have been kind and generous.
The Lord God is your God, and his people are your people.
May all the people know of certainty that you are a virtuous daughter.
May your mouth speak with wisdom.
May your heart meditate with reverence.
May your hands do the work that God has given you.
May your feet hasten to follow the path that God has laid out for your life.
May the Spirit of the Lord, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and power,
the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be upon you both now and forever.
Amen.

5 Powerful Blessings to Pray Over Your Children

Day 1:  5 Blessings To Pray Over Your Children
{5 Day of Blessings  For Your Family Series}

{Days 1 thru 5}

Do you ever feel there isn’t enough time in the day to pray?

We’ve all been there.  I find that praying for our children is something we think about and may do from time, but not on a consistent basis.

There is power in the parent’s prayer.  As parents we are advocates with authority and power over our children.   As someone once said, a mother is the first book read and the last put aside in every child’s library.  Mamas, we have influence over our children.  We have a weapon against the enemy’s plan for our children and that is prayer.

What if we took it serious and really prayed blessings over our kids every week or every day?  Psalm 129:8 says, “The blessing of the Lord be upon you.   We bless you in the name of the Lord”.

What a change we will see in their precious hearts and our own!  As we begin this fresh new school year, I thought it would be great to start with 5 blessings to pray over your children.  As moms and dads, let’s take on the challenge of praying for our children every day.  Be sure to also check out my 31 Days of Praying for Your Children challenge which includes a daily prayer devotion perfect for the busy mama!

5 Powerful Blessings to pray over your children

1.  God’s personal blessing- Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you.  The Lord cause his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you.  The Lord turn his face upon you and give you peace.

2.  Protection- Psalm 91:11

The Lord will command His angels to take good care of you.

3.  Salvation- Isaiah 45: 8, 2 Tim 2:10

Lord, let salvation spring up within my children, that they may obtain salvation that is in
Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

4.  Sweet Obedience- Ephesians 6:1

Children, [you] obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

5.  Greatest Command and second- Mark 29-31/Deuteronomy 6: 4-5

Hear oh Israel, The Lord is our God, The Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all of your soul.  Love Him with all of your mind and with all of your strength.  Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
