5 Bible Verses to Become a Better Wife

I’m so thankful I have the Bible to help me be a better wife.  I believe in the heart of every married woman, is the desire to love her husband and be that wife God intended her to become.  God’s instructions for marriage are found in the Bible and they include a promise.  When you follow God’s instructions, you are blessed.   As wives, we are on a journey of learning how to be our husband’s help mate, to bring him good and not harm all the days of his life!  Here are 5 quick Bible verses to encourage you in your marriage journey.

1.  Psalm 128: 3
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

2.  Proverbs 12: 4
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

3.  Proverbs 14: 1
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
4.  Ephesians 5: 22-23
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.

5.  Proverbs 31: 10-31
10An excellent wife, who can find?
         For her worth is far above jewels.
11The heart of her husband trusts in her,
         And he will have no lack of gain.
12She does him good and not evil
         All the days of her life.
13She looks for wool and flax
         And works with her hands in delight.
14She is like merchant ships;
         She brings her food from afar.
15She rises also while it is still night
         And gives food to her household
         And portions to her maidens.
16She considers a field and buys it;
         From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17She girds herself with strength
         And makes her arms strong.
18She senses that her gain is good;
         Her lamp does not go out at night.
19She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
         And her hands grasp the spindle.
20She extends her hand to the poor,
         And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
         For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She makes coverings for herself;
         Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates,
         When he sits among the elders of the land.
24She makes linen garments and sells them,
         And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
25Strength and dignity are her clothing,
         And she smiles at the future.
26She opens her mouth in wisdom,
         And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27She looks well to the ways of her household,
         And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28Her children rise up and bless her;
         Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
29“Many daughters have done nobly,
         But you excel them all.”
30Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
         But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her the product of her hands,
         And let her works praise her in the gates.

Blessings and Shalom,

MM: Marriage Monday {5 Bible Verses About God’s Love for Your Marriage}

The world has it’s own meaning of love.  In fact, the 1980’s pop song, What’s Love Got to Do With It?, seems to be the motto now days.  Today’s culture is quickly forgetting what love is,  yet many follow a distorted view that only leads down to a road of painful relationships and destruction.  There are many hurting people around you.  Take a look.  Why do people keep looking for love in the all the wrong places?   What has happened to the real meaning of true love?

It can only be found in the Bible.  Call it old fashioned?  Yes, the Bible is old-fashioned and there’s nothing wrong with that.  In fact, it’s all right!  The Bible tells us, “Love comes from God and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God”.    1 John 4:7.  True love comes from God.  The best thing you can do in your marriage today is to know the love of the Father-who is LOVE.  True Love.

It’s only by knowing God through His son Jesus, that you have the power to love your spouse in a supernatural way.  When you feel like it or not.  Feelings and emotions have nothing to do with it.  You know what I mean.  Let’s be real.  Test yourself.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • When was the last time you showed God’s love to your spouse?
  • What is God’s love anyway?
  • How can I show God’s love to my spouse if I don’t even know it myself?

How do you love your spouse?  With God’s lovingkindness.

Here are 5 Bible verses about God’s Love For Your Marriage:
Use these Bible verses to encourage you and learn how to love your spouse God’s way.

Isaiah 43:4
Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.

Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

John 3: 16, 17
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Romans 5: 5-8
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Titus 3: 4-7
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

-I encourage you to show God’s lovingkindness to your spouse this week through your words and actions.  Don’t wait until Valentine’s day.  Every day is a day of love.
