4th of July Inspired Outfit of the Day

I love to dress up for 4th of July!  Red, white and blue make a great color combination for summer inspired outfits.  I kept it casual, yet classy with my love for nautical in there.  Today, I’m wearing my 4th of July inspired outfit.  I found the navy blue striped blouse and high waisted white shorts at Bealls Outlet.  Aren’t they cute?  I added a cute rose hair clip to my blouse for extra festive flair.  My white wedge sandals are from Ross.  I painted my toes red and baby blue.  For my nails, I went with a frosted white nail color.  Star sparkle earrings that dangle and blue and red bracelets add some color.  To top it off, a girl can’t go wrong with red lips!  I’m wearing Mary Kay’s lipgloss in Rock n’ Red.  I love that color.  Also, you’re seeing my hair just washed and in its natural state.  Didn’t have time to style it with hot tools, so just let it air dry and rockin’ the beachy waves look.  Do you enjoy dressing up for Independence day too?  Be sure to watch my video of how I put together my outfit today.  Hopefully it will give you some inspiration for your 4th of July outfit.  Enjoy the video!

Here’s to a safe and blessed 4th of July.  I pray that you have a fun day with your family and remember that freedom isn’t free.  Yet, Jesus came to set the captives free and whoever is free in Jesus is free indeed!

4th of July Decorating Ideas!

In today’s video, I share how I decorated my kitchen Fourth of July style.  It’s my unique style and I like it.   I love to decorate with blue and white for summer with a twist of nautical.  I can’t forget to include American crafting in my decor too.  I even show you how to make a easy utensil/straw jar for your picnic table.  Hope you get some ideas and enjoy the video.  Looking for more 4th of July ideas?  I have two DIY ideas for making an American flag door hanger and kid’s t-shirt on this post here.

For my U.S. friends, have a safe and blessed weekend celebrating our freedom!

July Water Fun

Is an expensive swimming pool really a better choice for summer water fun?  Hmmm, I was thinking about this and I started to reflect back on my own childhood.  We didn’t have a swimming pool, but we had a yard and a hose and a sprinkler.  We didn’t live in a community where there was access to a community pool.  I lived in a time when you knew it was summer because when you went to Kmart, and there were plastic pools outside on display ready to buy!  I still remember that excitement.

Some of my best memories were when my brother and I spent numerous days outside running through the sprinker and spraying each other with the hose.  We made up games and took breaks to sit and eat watermelon or popsicles.  The best parts were feeling the wet grass in between our toes and the worst problem we had to face was dirty grassy feet.  Oh well.  I don’t remember how hot it was during those summer AZ days.  All I remember was the fun and laughs we had and that funny colorful sprinker bug that waved his little antennas around and water sprayed out of it.  Did any of you have one of those bug sprinklers?  Maybe if you were an 80’s child?  I’m dating myself.

Yes, I did have one of those plastic pools some summers as a little girl too.  That was fun, but for some reason the most memories I have are the ones that were much simpler involving the simple water hose.

Well, this 4th of July, my daughter and her little cousins got together at Grandma’s house and there was no built in swimming pool.  Just a slip and slide and a hose and a sprinker.  I sat back and watched how the kids excitement grew with anticipation as they watched my Dad (Grandpa) through the window get the whole water fun set up.  They ran out of the door and ran right into the water.  Their smiles told the whole story!  What a fun day!  At the end of their fun, Grandpa took the hose and surprisingly sprayed the little ones, ha ha!  I laugh even now as I remember.  I can still hear their laughter including my own.  What a simple day.

As families, we don’t need a lot of money to have summer water fun.  It’s the great times we spend together that turn a budget water day into a rich day of memories.

Easy 4th of July DIY Door Hanger and T-shirt

Sometimes I just get some creative motivation at the spur of the moment.
How about you?

It was the day before 4th of July and I was itching to make some fun patriotic diy. I totally whipped this all together in under an hour! I created a 4th of July sign for my front door.

I used $1 wooden coasters from Michaels which come in a set of 5-such a good deal.  I painted the one coaster white.  I bought some polka dot ribbon and red rig rag and had some old buttons in my stash.  Hot glued it all to create a American flag, so cute.
I also used this idea to create a shirt for my daughter to wear with pride!
Yes, and that was like in less than 10 min.

I used the same supplies and hot glued them to a white shirt.

My daughter Hadara loved wearing her new shirt
and we added some of the polka dot ribbon to her hair!
What are some crafts you do on the spur of the moment?
It’s fun and it’s creative.  Why not?

Let the creative juices run wild and craft away with the kids today.

Keep pressing on Moms!
