Years ago, I had a real problem. I really cared about what other people thought about me. I thought I had to fit the cookie cutter mold of a perfect homemaker, wife and mother. One beautiful day, I realized that God’s opinion of me mattered more than the opinions of others. I’ve been flying ever since.
Yet, to be honest with you, the thought of me participating in the Keepin’ It Real Spring Home Tour challenge scared me silly. I’m a recovering perfectionist or clean freak. Yes, I’m the mom who would have a heart attack if I had a surprise visitor at the front door. When someone calls me and says they’re coming over in ten minutes, I transform into the cleaning ninja. Watch out!! Don’t even get me started on design and decorating.
Seriously, I’ve become better about the whole perfectionist thing. Really I have. I’ve realized I can’t always pretend to have it all together and if my wonderful house gets a little or a lot of messy, it’s OKAY! And if other people see it, it’s OKAY! If my home doesn’t look like the magazines, it’s OKAY! If my home is small, it’s OKAY! Grace abounds in the Little Pink Casa.
That’s why I’m keepin’ it real with you this week. I’m joining a wonderful group of bloggers who are doing the same with their home. We hope our home tours encourage you to know that nobody has it all together, and that’s okay! The bottom line is having a house of perfection has nothing to do with how good a mom, wife or woman you are! Loving your husband and children along with having the Lord in your home is what matters most.
Here I am, taking the deep plunge, sharing my real video home tour with you. This is who we are, this is real life! Sink or swim, I’m diving in!
Welcome to my wonderful messy house!
BUT WAIT! We want to see your homes too!!! Even if you aren’t a blogger, you can join us and share pictures of your home on Instagram. For the next six days we will have a little Instagram challenge; each day will have a different topic for you to post a picture on. Check out the graphic below to see what is assigned on each day. Be sure to use the hashtag #KeepinItRealHomeTour on all your Instagram post so we can find each other easily.
