Kid’s Cookie Cutter Valentines
Just like the name says, go grab your heart cookie cutters! I also have a lips and lipstick cookie cutter, so use what you have! You can also make your own heart templates from cardboard or boxes just in case you have no cookie cutters.
Other Supplies You’ll Need:
- construction paper
First, trace your hearts of all shapes and get creative!
Fold a piece of construction paper in half to form a card. Glue hearts, add stickers, decorate!
Easy Homemade Valentines
Do you have left over Christmas Cards with your family photo hanging around? It’s time to recycle them. Cut out your child’s picture from the family photo and use it to make Valentine’s cards.
You can also print out a sheet of your child’s photo and use those too. I printed these photos on regular copy paper.
Hadara added the photo to the front of a card and attached some cookie cutter hearts below her photo with a cute catchy phrase, “From my Heart to Yours!”.
We also like to write Bible verses and scriptures in our Valentine cards.
Here a few Bible Verses about Love you can use:
- Jesus Loves You!
- God is Love. 1 John 4: 8
- Love One Another. 1 John 4: 7 , John 15:12 , John 13:35
- Love is patient and kind. 1 Corinthians 13: 4
- Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13: 8
- A friend loves at all times. Proverbs 17:17
- We love Him, because He first loved us. 1 John 4: 19
- Love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4: 8
–Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Luke 10:27, Deuteronomy 6:5, Mark 12: 30, Matthew 22:37
–But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5: 22-23
–For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Heart Pouch of Love
Next, your child will need something to hold their valentines. Hadara created a heart pouch of love.
Fold a big sheet of construction paper, trace big heart or cut out a big heart shape. Do this with a white piece of cardboard paper also. Cut both hearts out.
Staple along the outer sides of hearts, creating a seam to hold both hearts together leaving the top of both hearts open. That’s the opening for the cards to fall in. Add a handle by stapling each end to back of heart. We used white lace which gives it an old fashioned look.
Then, decorate your heart pouch of love with stickers, crayons. Hadara decorated her heart pouch with one of her favorite doll characters, Lalaloopsy. Let your children have fun with it! You can always add a small treat to the card too. Hadara hung her heart pouch of love on her bedroom door. Use it as a valentine mailbox or a fun way to pass out cards.
There you have it! Easy and budget friendly valentines for your children to share with friends and relatives. Who knew Valentine’s day cards could be this simple? I hope this post helped you to make your children’s Valentine’s day extra special. After all, Valentine’s day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the love of God and spread God’s love all around.
Blessings and Shalom,
